Safety Coordinator
The location for this job is Clawson, Michigan
Position Summary
Provide technical data, services, information, and support to ensure an effective environmental, safety and health program in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This position reports to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate safety program by assisting to develop policies, reviewing technical data, review/revising existing procedures, and implementing new procedures to ensure a safe work environment in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Conducts and reports semi-annual audits to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conducts periodic inspections of safety equipment and systems.
- Conducts periodic industrial hygiene monitoring.
- Reviews project, such as new site construction, remodeling, equipment purchases and installation, etc., for safety hazards and provides guidance on complying with regulations, and ensuring a safe work place.
- Assist EHS Manager obtain information necessary to comply with environmental regulations.
- Assist EHS Manager complete a Product Regulation System.
- Provide initial and refresher safety training for personnel at all levels.
- Assists facilities with incident investigations, determining causal factors and implementing corrective actions.
- Promotes the quality systems such as QS/ISO/AS through adhering to the elements, and being familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual and procedures. This position has the responsibility and authority to prevent the occurrence of product nonconformity.
- Promotes the quality management philosophy by setting a positive example and participating in cross functional problem solving activities.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Associate degree in health and safety preferred. One to three years of health and safety experience preferred. Working knowledge of federal and state occupational health and safety regulations preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access preferred.
